Benefits of Sailing

In addition to the undoubted physical benefits typical of a holistic outdoor sports practice, sailing also brings considerable psychological benefits so relevenat that it has been codified as a true cure, called 'Velatherapy'.

Sailing, in fact,  'force' people to move in the same environment and in a limited space, to share emotions and feelings and to collaborate, even under the guidance of a leader. Crew members have specific tasks but -at the same time- they must be able to perform others’ tasks, in case anyone of the members would be unable to do.

Through the leadership experience, it enables people to concentrate, increase self-esteem and autonomy and being subjected to constant stimulation, everyday problems and duties are greatly reduced till they get completely forgotten.

HEPA

HEPA is the acronym that summarises the European approach to developing effective Health-Enhancing Physical Activity policies. On 13 October 2021 have been puiblished the Physical Activity Factsheets 2021, which are the result of collaboration between the Member States, the World Health Organisation and the European Commission.

This is the third edition of the monitoring sheets, following those collected by the European Commission and the WHO in 2015 and 2018. In addition, 27 reports were produced for individual member states. Each report provides an overview summarising the overall situation across the EU and the indicators show which of the recommended HEPA policies have been implemented in each country.
