Benefits of Sailing
In addition to the undoubted physical benefits typical of a holistic outdoor sports practice, sailing also brings considerable psychological benefits so relevenat that it has been codified as a true cure, called ‘Velatherapy‘.
Sailing, in fact, ‘force’ people to move in the same environment and in a limited space, to share emotions and feelings and to collaborate, even under the guidance of a leader. Crew members have specific tasks but -at the same time- they must be able to perform others’ tasks, in case anyone of the members would be unable to do.
Through the leadership experience, it enables people to concentrate, increase self-esteem and autonomy and being subjected to constant stimulation, everyday problems and duties are greatly reduced till they get completely forgotten.
